Music Marketing Coaching
Music marketing today goes beyond posting content or chasing trends. It’s about understanding music marketing and the music business as a system and applying it strategically to build an artist career. At PopLab Zürich, we teach music marketing strategies for artists, including release planning, audience targeting, paid ads, campaign execution, and more with a clear focus on short-term results and long-term growth.
You’ll learn how to evaluate opportunities, plan release campaigns, and use both proven and non-obvious marketing strategies to build sustainable momentum in today’s music industry.
Music marketing isn’t just about promoting a release. It’s about understanding how artists are grown and scaled in the music industry. At PopLab Zürich, we show you how labels plan releases, build audiences, and allocate resources and how this thinking can be adapted to your current level. You’ll learn what growth really means at each stage, how much work it takes, and how to make decisions that move your career forward over time. The goal is clarity, not shortcuts, so you know where to focus and what actually matters.

FAQs
-
Because without understanding music marketing, growth is mostly accidental.
Many independent artists believe that getting on a Spotify playlist or posting consistently on social media will solve everything but without a broader marketing framework, it usually doesn’t. Even when attention comes, it rarely turns into lasting growth if the rest of your marketing, audience strategy, and follow-up are missing.Understanding music marketing gives you the structure to turn attention into momentum, so opportunities support your long-term career, not just short spikes.
-
Yes. In fact, marketing is often most effective when your audience is still small, because you can test ideas, learn what resonates, and build the right foundations early, instead of guessing later.
-
Because growth needs both a clear identity and a structured approach. Marketing can’t work properly if your artistic direction, positioning, or message isn’t defined, without that foundation, even good marketing efforts fall flat. Music marketing builds on artist development by turning a clear identity into consistent fan growth and momentum over time.
When both are in place, releases connect, audiences grow intentionally, and progress becomes repeatable rather than accidental. Music marketing connects the dots between releases so growth becomes repeatable, not accidental.
-
No. You don’t need a big budget, but you do need clarity on where time or money actually makes sense. Smart planning, realistic goals, and knowing what to prioritise matters far more than spending a lot.
-
Yes. For music marketing, you need finished or nearly finished music — ideally ready to be released or already released. Marketing only works when there is something concrete to build around, test, and grow. This isn’t about developing ideas from scratch, but about learning how to support real releases, build momentum, and grow an audience intentionally.
If your music isn’t ready yet, Artist Development is usually the better starting point.
-
Not at all. You can focus on just one area — like ads, branding, or release strategy — or combine topics over multiple sessions. We'll guide you based on your goals and current problems.
-
Yes. Bands are welcome. One member is included in the session fee; additional band members attending the same session are subject to an extra fee. If more than two members attend, we recommend online sessions to ensure a smooth and focused setup.

These are 1-on-1 coaching sessions tailored to your needs. Think of them as focused, strategic conversations where we help you build your artist career step by step.
-
Yes, single sessions are available — though many artists choose to book multiple for deeper development.
-
Yes. A trial lesson is always part of our selection process and serves as the second step after the initial application. It allows us to work together briefly and confirm mutual fit before moving forward.
